A missing man from the town of Dildo has been safely returned home, thanks to the help of search and rescue teams, and an RCMP police dog.

The 81-year-old man was reported missing yesterday afternoon, and was believed to be traveling on foot.

Officers from Whitbourne and Placentia detachments joined efforts with the Avalon North Wolverines Search and Rescue to find him.

With the help of police service dog ‘Grinch,’ they were able to track the man down, and found him uninjured in the woods near Battlefield Road in Dildo.

While the RCMP are thanking everyone who helped with the search, special kudos are being shared with Grinch and his handler.
