An 82-year-old St. John’s woman in a wheelchair was left stranded at the gate as her flight home left without her.
The woman, who prefers to remain anonymous, had been waiting at Halifax Stanfield Airport to board an Air Canada flight to St. John’s.
She says a miscommunication left her grounded as her flight took off. The person on the plane told the ground crew she was already aboard. She blames Air Canada’s procedures more than the employees, who she says tried their best.
What’s worse, the woman’s daughter waiting to pick her up in St. John’s was told her mother had been on the flight but was removed, leaving her to worry about a possible health emergency.
She says she was compensated for the inconvenience, but hopes something changes to prevent something similar from happening again.
