VOCM News has learned that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2330 has been placed under trusteeship by the national union, and that all local union officers and local union meetings have been suspended.
The union local’s operations and financial practices are currently being audited. Outlined in a letter from the International Vice President to the local’s business manager dated June 3, is the intent to place Local 2330 under trusteeship and that a decision will be made after a hearing to determine whether or not the trusteeship should be ratified and continued.
According to the letter, a preliminary report from the ongoing audit, shows that the local union cannot pay expenditures properly because of the failure of certain officers to “perform ordinary and basic duties.”
As a result, International Vice President Tom Reid says, he finds cause to impose a trusteeship over Local Union 2330 effective immediately to “prevent and correct financial malpractice.”
