Two years ago on this date, Cortney Lake climbed into a pickup truck in Mount Pearl and was never seen again.
Lake’s family will be marking the grim anniversary this morning with a private church service.
Her Aunt, Donna Walsh, says it never gets any easier.
She says they remember Cortney at all times including family gatherings and other occasions. She says remembering her and including her son in family gatherings brings them some comfort.
Even after two years, they’re no closer to getting any answers as to exactly what happened, or where she may be. She says as a family, their search for Cortney continues.
She says while their public search efforts have dwindled, they have availed as a family of some professional services.
RNC had identified Philip Smith as the lone suspect in her disappearance and death. Smith took his own life near Bellevue Beach a few months later, with no answers as to where Lake’s body might be found.
Walsh says the public support has been a source of comfort and strength for the family and they continue to ask the public to be mindful especially when outdoors. That includes signs of disturbed ground, or the clothing Cortney was wearing when last seen.
That includes a grey Hally Hansen thigh-length jacket, grey sneakers, black leggings, a multi-coloured button-up shirt and her Coach purse and wallet.
