Crab fishermen will be getting raise.
The season began with a price of over $5.00 per pound, but that later fell to $4.90. The Fish Price Standing Committee has reassessed the price for snow crab according to the FFAW, and increased it by 17 cents.
The new price is $5.07 per pound.
The union says the increase ensures that harvesters get a fair price for their product. FFAW President Keith Sullivan says a bad price today becomes a starting point for price negotiations the following year.
He says the FFAW will continue to monitor the market.
