When the Kinsmen walked away from the beer tent, Regatta President Chris Neary spoke confidently that others would jump on the chance to pick up the slack. He was correct.

Executive Chef, a small catering company in St. John’s which does film sets, movie sets and TV shows, has been around for about nine years. Operating partner Darren MacDonald says they are applying to operate the beer tent for the big day at Quidi Vidi. He has, in the past, worked other large venues including the Budweiser Stage.

The Regatta Committee has issued an RPF for the largest concession stand pondside.

MacDonald says there are things which can be done to make the tent even more attractive to Regatta patrons.

He sees the beer tent is more than just a place where people sit on the grass. He’d like to bring in entertainment and make it a local event.
