A long-time advocate for a ban on plastic bags is applauding a federal government initiative to ban single use plastic items.
Justin Trudeau announced today that studies will be conducted into the possibility of a ban and plan should be rolled out by 2021.

While some have dismissed the initiative as electioneering, Sheilagh O’Leary says she is encouraged by the announcement.
She referenced Catherine McKenna’s recent visit to the capital city and the push to address climate change.
