News that six units at the kidney care centre in Mount Pearl Square had to be shut down due to mould has left a lot of patients worried.
Trina Ralph, the executive director of the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Atlantic Branch, says the foundation has been in contact with Eastern Health since the mould was discovered, and she is confident that they are doing everything they can to address the situation in a timely manner.
However, Ralph says the situation has left a lot of patients uneasy.
She hasn’t spoken to anyone directly affected but she has been speaking with other patients. Ralph says they are “alarmed” by the situation because they simply cannot live without dialysis. She says having a fully-functioning unit is very important.
