Finance Minister Tom Osborne is reintroducing the budget brought forward prior to the election in the House of Assembly this afternoon.
Osborne is bringing back the budget as originally presented, and says it is a budget they are proud to stand behind.
That might not sit well with Ches Crosbie, as he is urging government not to re-introduce the 2019 budget after sending a letter to Premier Ball detailing eight points they would like to see implemented.
Premier Dwight Ball says all of Crosbie and the PC Party’s recommendations for the budget would either cost money or reduce revenue.
Ball says two would take revenue from government and six would lead to increased costs.
He says the goal remains to reach surplus by 2022-23, and they want cost estimates before making any decisions on the implementation of Crosbie’s recommendations.
Ball doesn’t see the minority government as a challenge, but rather an opportunity for all 40 members to work together. He says it was refreshing to see Crosbie’s tone change on Monday in the House.
In addition to the budget, tomorrow government will bring in an Interim Supply Bill to ensure that government departments and entities have enough money to manage operations while budget and supply debates take place.
Osborne is speaking to the media to discuss the re-introduction of the budget today at 1:00 p.m..
