A businessman on Bell Island is pointing the finger at local politicians after making the decision to pull his business from the area.
Jim Bennett’s family is from Bell Island. He came to Newfoundland to set up business and purchased the old Wabana fire hall, the sale of which included an adjoining shed that the town uses for water distribution.
That started a legal dispute between the town and Bennett, leading the businessman to pull up stakes and leave.
He says the entire situation has left him embittered. He claims public comments made about him by elected officials including the MHA, “killed” his business.
He calls it a “horrible story.”
