Bay Roberts RCMP are investigating a case involving the alleged abduction of a child by the boy’s mother.
Police received a complaint from a man on Tuesday evening that his son was abducted after school by the child’s mother.
The man told police he believed the woman was taking the boy across the island to catch the ferry and leave the province.
Officers from across the province, including RCMP, Corner Brook RNC, Marine Atlantic and the Labrador Marine Ferry service in St. Barbe were all advised of the situation.
Port Saunders RCMP this morning located the woman and the boy at the ferry terminal in St. Barbe.
She was arrested and has been released on conditions. She’s scheduled to appear in Harbour Grace provincial court August 21.
Charges of parental abduction are being submitted to be approved by the Attorney General through the Crown Attorney’s office.
