The Air Cadets proudly showed off a new glider named after a former long-time chair of the provincial Air Cadet Committee of Canada.
The Donald Gladney will be shipped to Nova Scotia for use in the Air Cadet training program.
Gladney was a member of the Air Cadet Committee for 70 years until his passing on April 27. He joined the Air Cadet program shortly after it was established in 1949.
Gladney served as National President of the Air Cadet League of Canada from 1992 to 1993. In 2013, Gladney was inducted into the Newfoundland and Labrador Volunteer Hall of Fame for his service to the Air Cadet program.
Tanya Gladney is proud of her father’s long dedication to the Air Cadets.
She says it’s a wonderful memory for her family to have. He worked long and hard with the air cadet league, she says it’s sad he wasn’t here to see it.
