A St. John’s DJ is on his way to Natuashish at the invitation of the Innu Community’s graduating class.
Mark Power taught phys-ed in Natuashish back in 2007 and made some lasting friendships among the students and their families.
Power, who now uses the handle DJ Slim Macho, is in demand throughout the region.
Children he taught in Kindergarten never forgot him, and invited him to play at their graduation ceremony this evening.
Power says he has never forgotten the people of Natuashish. He calls it an honour knowing that he made an impression on students at the time, and the kids there are never far from his thoughts.
Of the dozens of students he taught in 2007, only three are graduating this year, but he calls it cause for great celebration.
