The students and staff of Baltimore School in Ferryland celebrated an accomplishment by one of their own yesterday.
Trent O’Brien of Cape Broyle never missed a single day of school in 13 years.
“Present: 2430 Absent: 0” was written on the side of buses in a motorcade marking the accomplishment.
Students, staff and parents joined O’Brien at his bus stop in the Dalton’s Home Hardware parking lot Friday morning to escort him to school for his last day of class. He got to ride in style in a yellow Mustang convertible.
O’Brien says he didn’t realize how big of a deal it was. He received an award and the staff put a picture of him on the school wall.
O’Brien says knowing how far he had come kept him motivated. He became aware of it in Grade 7 or 8, and tried to pull through to the end.
