A local company is addressing the issue of commercial fish waste by setting up a new waste management operation in Harbour Breton.
Corner Brook-based Barry Group is currently processing harvested salmon for Mowi, an aquaculture group.
The company says the new waste management system will add value to byproduct from salmon production.
The plan is to extract the oils from the salmon waste and sell it on the global market.
The federal government is providing a loan of $300,000 for the project.
