Local members of the Knights of Columbus are none-too-pleased with a change to the fourth degree uniform brought down by members in the United States.
The black cape, hat and white feather familiar to most and worn at ceremonial occasions is no more.
It has been replaced with a military-style uniform introduced in 2017 but not officially enforced in Newfoundland and Labrador until this week.
VOCM News has heard from a number of members of the service group who are not pleased with the change. Some prefer the old uniform for the sake of tradition while others don’t like the new uniform’s military style, complete with beret.
The Knights of Columbus says the new uniform was brought in because the old uniform was seen as a barrier to membership for younger men.
