The provincial government’s single use plastic bag ban should be in place in the coming months.

The province announced earlier this spring that a ban on single use plastic bags was in the works.

The federal government has since announced that it is implementing a ban on single use plastics by 2021.

Minister of Environment Lisa Dempster confirmed in the House of Assembly yesterday that the plastic bag ban will be implemented soon.

Amendments have been made to the Environmental Protection Act and they are working through policy and regulations.
