The renovated Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium is open for its seventh season with a number of new features.
Meredith Schofield, a member of the board, says the upgrades would not be possible without the funding they received.
Some upgrades have already taken place, but more additions to the active aquarium are expected in the coming weeks including a dark deep-water tank.
Other upgrades include a new grate floor and ocean water lines. Schofield says the most anticipated improvement is a new area for kids.
She says they have a play exhibit where kids can play and put the animals in whatever tanks they want.
