Trades NL is calling on the provincial government to do more for the industry by implementing a benefits and workforce development lens.
The group says the province is experiencing a lull in construction and believes government can do more to ensure Newfoundlanders and Labradorians receive first consideration to work on projects in the province and from its resources.
Trades NL is advocating for government to maximize the province’s benefits from resource developments by negotiating an increased level of local construction, fabrication and procurement.
They also want the province to receive maximum benefits of the Bull Arm Fabrication Facility and from public infrastructure projects by implementing a Newfoundland and Labrador Benefits Agreement Policy.
