The judicial recount for the district of Labrador West is underway in St. John’s Supreme Court.
One by one, each ballot is passed down a long table, through the hands of each lawyer, and examined. This morning they completed the recount of seven polls, with 20 polls left to count.
The NDP’s Jordan Brown won on election night over the Liberal incumbent Graham Letto with just five votes. According to the Elections Act, (1991), an election that results in a difference of ten votes or less must have a judicial recount.
After just seven polls, already 20 ballots have been set aside as being in dispute, and will be revisited following the count.

Jordan Brown and Graham Letto are both sitting in the courtroom for the process.
Brown says even with a growing pile of ballots up for dispute, he’s feeling confident.
