The former premier who was the driving force behind Muskrat Falls was pleased with the Quebec Court of Appeal ruling this week upholding our water rights on the Churchill River.
Danny Williams, a lawyer by profession, says it’s very positive news.
He’s read the decision “cover to cover” and while he’s been critical of some of the Quebec court decisions before, he calls this ruling “well reasoned.”
Williams, still an ardent supporter of Muskrat Falls, says the decision also renders moot some of the criticism leveled against the project by naysayers.
He says some were worried that water rights were in jeopardy, but that “negative issue is off the table.” He was also pleased to hear the Chair of Nalcor’s Board of Directors, Brendan Paddick, reiterate that there are no issues with the stability of the North Spur.
