Former Premier Danny Williams is calling the testimony of the Chair of Nalcor’s Board Board of Directors at the Muskrat Falls Inquiry “a breath of fresh air.”
Williams was the driving force behind the hydro mega project, long extolling the long-term benefits of Muskrat Falls.
Brendan Paddick testified at the Inquiry last week indicating that the project was a good one and that Nalcor and Hydro staff have been under “relentless” public scrutiny.
Williams says it was “refreshing” to listen to someone who saw the benefits of the project, which he says will be seen as a good project in the next five to ten years.
Since sanction, project costs have doubled from $6.2-billion to over $12-billion. Williams says cost overruns are not unusual on a project the size of Muskrat Falls as was revealed in testimony.
He says it was stated under oath by an expert witness that the project will end up being worth more than the $12 billion dollars it cost to develop it.
