The western half of the island is in for a wet start to summer, as heavy rain is forecast to continue from tonight through Saturday night.
Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings along the West Coast, the Northern Peninsula, the interior of the island, as well as Southeastern Labrador, as upwards of 65 mm of rain could fall by the time the system eases up tomorrow night.
Meteorologists are encouraging people to prepare for heavy downpours and take precautions while driving, as water is likely to pool on roads and flash floods are possible.
Meanwhile, a wind warning was also issued for the Wreckhouse area, as winds are expected to gust up to 110 km/h tonight.
