Organizers of Sunday’s cleanup of a stretch of the Outer Ring Road say something has to be done about unsecured loads heading for Robin Hood Bay.
Karen Hickman of St. John’s Clean and Beautiful says that seemed to be the source of the majority of the trash they found during Sunday’s cleanup. Over 100 volunteers collected hundreds of bags of trash and even found items such as car parts, mattresses and construction materials.
Hickman would like to explore the issue of unsecured loads with the provincial government.
She says items are blowing out of the trucks on the Outer Ring, then volunteers a year later have to pick them up.
