A 13-year-old boy has been rescued after becoming stranded in The Gorge in Spaniard’s Bay.
Gary Gosse, a Lieutenant with the Spaniard’s Bay Volunteer Fire Department, says that the boy became stranded in the popular swimming area which is surrounded by clifts, and that the only way to get him out was to airlift him out in a basket.
Gosse says that that the boy has a gash on his leg, and that he was unable to put any pressure on it. No further information is known about the extent of the boy’s injuries at this time.
He has been airlifted to St. John’s for treatment.
