One of the province’s most influential music teachers has passed away.
Gary Graham of Corner Brook passed away on Monday following a battle with cancer at the age of 73.
Originally from Nova Scotia, Graham moved to Corner Brook in the 1960’s and taught in many schools. He’s been honoured with the Order of Newfoundland and honorary doctorate from Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus.
Condolences have already begun to pour in, including MP for the Long Range Mountains, Gudie Hutchings, who says Mr. G was one of the most influential music teachers in Newfoundland and Labrador, teaching generations how to truly understand and appreciate music.
She says he had a way with every person he taught which was truly exceptional, and found the best in every one.
Mayor of Corner Brook, Jim Parsons says Graham was a truly remarkable human with such poise, humour and generosity. Hey thanked Mr G for everything he did for Corner Brook, and himself. He says he will be missed, but never be forgotten.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
