Former realtor, Anne Squires, has withdrawn her statement of claim against former St. John’s deputy mayor Ron Ellsworth.
Squires this morning sent a letter to lawyer Darren O’Keefe, indicating she is withdrawing her statement of claim because of her inability to pursue the matter financially.
Squires, the former owner of Exit Realty on the Rock pleaded guilty in April to fraud, theft and forgery following a lengthy police investigation into her former business.
Police alleged that Squires created fictitious purchases and sale agreements to secure commission advances from a financial company in Ontario.
In September of 2016, Squires filed a $137,000
Statement of Claim against Ellsworth, for money he loaned to her at annual interest rates she claimed were as high as 120 per cent.
