Memorial University is standing up against racism being seen in universities across the country.
In a release, President Gary Kachanoski says that MUN “unequivocally condemns racial profiling and racism, discrimination and oppression in all forms.”
Kachanoski cited recent racial profiling incidents at a number of campuses across the country, saying he is encouraging staff, students and faculty who may be feeling unsafe at MUN to reach out to the university.
He continues that MUN ‘joyfully’ embraces equity, diversity and inclusion, and that they hope to foster an atmosphere that is welcoming and safe for everyone.
Students who are feeling unsafe are encouraged to contact the Student Code of Conduct co-ordinators or the Student Support and Crisis Management Team. Likewise, employees are encouraged to contact the Equity Office.)
