When a Spaniard’s Bay boy helped out an injured teen at a popular swimming hole Tuesday night, he had no way of knowing he was actually returning an act of kindness shown to his friend a day earlier.
15-year-old Zackery Anthony was out with a friend on Monday when the other boy was injured after flipping over the handlebars of his bike.
A passerby, a nurse on her way to work in Carbonear, saw the accident, and stopped to help as they waited for an ambulance.
The following day, Zackery was among a group of friends and others at The Gorge in Spaniard’s Bay when a 13-year-old suffered a serious gash to his leg. Zackery was among a group of teens who helped the boy as they awaited paramedics and an airlift out of the difficult area.
It turns out that the injured 13-year-old’s mother was the same woman who helped his friend a day earlier.
His dad Stephen Anthony says says the boy’s mother was on the scene when he arrived and recognized Zackery from the day before.
He says the coincidence is amazing.
The boy injured at the swimming hole has been treated and released.
