Corner Brook RNC and the Fire Department had to deal with a residential fire around 9:30 last night.
It happened on Empire Street. Firefighters quickly put out the flames, which started in the area of the home’s kitchen.
There was moderate damage to the house but no injuries to report.
A man living alone in the house got out safely.
On the east coast nobody was at home Thursday afternoon when a fire broke out at a house on Frecker Drive in St. John’s.
Acting Platoon Chief Gerry O’Neill with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department says they arrived to find heavy smoke.
Two crews entered the home, checking the upper level apartment and the basement apartment. Shortly after, they gave the all clear that nobody was home.
O’Neill says they had the fire out in short order.
From the outside, barely any damage is visible, however O’Neill says there is heavy smoke, fire and water damage inside, and the kitchen was gutted.
