Some parents at Octagon Elementary in Paradise are up in arms over a proposed restaurant drive-thru near the school.

They are urging the town council to reject the application as it would add significant pressure on an already-busy school zone with many vehicles coming and going.

The proposal has grabbed a lot of attention on social media with petitions going around.,

Curtis Beasley, who says it appears that the coffee shop in question is a Tim Hortons, told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that there must be other suitable locations.

He says they went door-to-door getting people’s opinions, and have started both an online and paper petition.
