The president of Memorial University is being treated for cancer.
Gary Kachanoski was admitted to hospital late last week with severe anemia. He has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins gastric lymphoma.
He conveyed the news today to faculty and staff.
He has been told that the cancer is treatable. He plans to continue working throughout treatment.
MUN began a search for a new president some months ago after Kachanoski announced that he was retiring.
