Today’s rain did not stop people from attending the Multicultural family sports day this morning at Wishingwell Park in St. John’s.
The Association for New Canadians hosted the event for the seventh summer to bring families in the community together and to celebrate Canada.

Set up on the field were tents from sponsors like the Cancer Society and Parks Canada but also activities for the kids like face paint, bouncy castles and balloon animals.
Organizer Kathryn Holloway says a lot of work goes into the planning of a day like today. She and the team of organizers have been getting it ready since before Christmas.

Holloway says it takes a village and the group is happy with the outcome of the day.
