Get your red and white umbrellas on the ready. It looks like the Canada Day holiday will be a wet one for most of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Environment Canada meteorologist Todd Anstett says eastern portions of the province including the northeast Avalon can expect up to 20 mm of rain, continuing into the evening.

He says it looks like it’s going to be raining through the night especially in the metro area.
The best places to enjoy Canada Day tomorrow will be the west coast and Northern Peninsula, with the possibility of thunder showers in parts of Labrador.
Newfoundland and Labrador is the first in the nation to celebrate Canada’s birthday with a sunrise ceremony at Signal Hill.
The event gets underway at 6:00 in the parking lot outside Cabot Tower.
Provincial and federal officials will be on hand, with Metrobus service to and from the site.
Whether the sunrise will actually be seen is doubtful however. Tomorrow morning’s forecast calls for showers.
