A local actor and comedian says he thought it was all over.
Leon Parsons, also known as Donnie Dumphy was one of two people who had to be plucked from Conception Bay earlier this week after they flipped their Jetski near Bauline.
Parsons took a friend out on the water, and decided to swing by an iceberg near Bauline.
He says they stopped and when they both lifted their phones to take a picture of the iceberg, the jetski tipped.
Parsons described the shock of hitting the frigid water for VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly.
He says it’s “friggin’ freezing.” Neither of them was wearing a wetsuit.
The Jetski wouldn’t right itself and sank lower into the water. Luckily Parsons says they still had their phones, and he was able to call for help. In the meantime, they clung to the Jetski for nearly two hours waiting for help to arrive.
He says only about a foot and a half of the Jetski was sticking out of the water and he had his feet on the handlebars. His phone died just before the Flanders arrived on the scene.
He told Paddy Daly they didn’t think they were going to make it.
