A man had to be rescued from an excavator last night after it rolled over, landing in a wooded area in Fairhaven.

Norman’s Cove and Bellview fire departments responded to the scene shortly before 7 p.m.

The excavator apparently rolled, trapping the operator inside and inflicting serious injuries.

Fire Chief Jamie Budden says crews had to use the jaws of life. Due to the nature of the man’s injuries, Budden says the rescue was very technical.

The operator was then taken to the health clinic in Whitbourne for medical treatment. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.
