With or without lights, the show must go on.
That was the mindset of the cast of Broadway’s edition of Come From Away, when a power outage in New York City knocked out the lights and sound equipment.
The cast made their way outside to the sidewalk and performed some of the show’s songs—including “Welcome to the Rock”—much to the delight of the audience and passers-by alike.

Petrina Bromley is from Newfoundland, and plays the role of Bonnie.
She says sometimes they can take it for granted, but they understand how much money people spend to go to Broadway.
For some, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Bromley says it’s heartbreaking to have a show cancelled, so it felt like the right thing to do.
She says it took a few moments for people to realize what was going on.
Bromley says with the car horns, sirens and thousands of people on the streets, it took a minute to get people’s attention. However, once they began singing the tune, people seemed to really enjoy it.
