The occupants of a pickup truck escaped serious injury after striking a moose on the Outer Ring Road late last night.
The collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of the highway just past the Team Gushue Highway.
The driver of the pickup told VOCM News he was traveling approximately 90 kilometres per hour when the young moose appeared in front of him.
Neither he nor the woman in the passenger seat were seriously hurt, however the moose was killed. The truck sustained moderate damage.
Traffic was slowed as firefighters hosed down the roadway and removed the animal and truck.
