Newfoundland Dogs are at the Rooms on Saturdays all summer to greet guests, but dog owner Monica Dominguez says it is not just about petting a Newfoundland dog.
Welcoming visitors is the fun part but as ambassadors of the breed, she brings her dogs out to educate the public about how much work goes into owning one of the large canines.
She told guests about why they are known as such “drooly” dogs. It is because they were made to rescue so if they are holding on to something with their mouth, they can still breathe while doing so.
She says the breed is a huge part of heritage and it is important to know what you’re getting into.
She says it is important for people to meet them and realize how much work is involved.
