The inaugural Rib Fest is being described as a success by the Canadian Progress Club for St. John’s.
Club president Stephen Puddister says over 6,000 people showed up. It was so good that all three ribbers ran out of food on the last night. He says that it will definitely be an annual event for the club.

The weather held for most of the event and only turned a bit chilly on Saturday evening.
The event was a fundraiser for the Vera Perlin society and Special Olympics. Final tallies aren’t in yet as far as how much money was raised. But the People’s Choice award was announced on Saturday and the Ribbers from Camp thirty-one of Alabama won the top prize.

Puddister jokes that the ribbers will come better prepared for the Newfoundland weather next year. He says their teeth were chattering and they were bundled up pretty tightly when the cool breeze off the gut blew in.
