The complainant at the ongoing extortion trial of Justin Jennings in St. John’s Provincial Court is on the stand.
The husband and father of four says his son answered a knock at the door about 5:30 p.m. on May 27. His son said he didn’t know who it was, but told his dad it was a man “covered in tattoos.”
The man didn’t know Justin Jennings, but told the court he recognized him from the media. The man testified Jennings was there to collect money, but that he knew nothing about it.
He told the judge he felt Jennings was being 100 per cent serious. He was afraid Jennings would return, and that things would turn violent.
The man had purchased a doorbell security camera at Best Buy in St. John’s and had installed it himself. He says he turned over all video clips of his exchange with Jennings to police.
The complainant returns to the stand today.
