The President of the NLTA is defending a clause in the most recent contract that favours seniority when hiring a new teacher.
Speaking on VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly, Dean Ingram says the new clause only affects full-time teachers applying for full-time positions, and that other hiring processes remain the same.
He says if a person applying for a position doesn’t meet the requirements, they won’t get the job, regardless of how senior they are.
Ingram says the new clause helps keep the hiring process fair. He says it helps add a level of transparency to the process, which is something the membership wanted.
