Road work yet again on the Outer Ring Road this summer is causing headaches and raising questions about why the stretch of road requires yet another summer of maintenance, when there was already work done on the road last year.
Minister of Transportation and Works Steve Crocker says the work is not about the pavement not lasting. He says that it is the busiest stretch of highway in the province and because of that, wear and tear is bound to happen.
The paving equipment which tied up traffic the past few days is gone, and the new pavement has been laid.
He says keeping on top of the road work is essential.
He says that 35,000 cars drive over that stretch of highway every day, which is why they need to do roadwork on it every year to make sure that it is safe.
