A St. John’s man has been arrested following a crime spree in Clarenville, Tuesday night.
Police were called to a motel in the area around 8:00 p.m. to arrest 37-year-old Kevin Roberts, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant by the RNC in St. John’s. Roberts had fled on foot before police arrived.
After leaving the motel, Roberts allegedly stole a truck from the Newfoundland Power yard in Clarenville, then side-swiped a vehicle a short distance away before getting into a head-on collision. The drivers of both vehicles suffered undetermined injuries.
Police say after fleeing the scene of the last accident on foot, he carjacked a woman and assaulted her teenage passenger.
Roberts was noticed driving near the Clarenville airstrip a short time later. Police attempted to stop him but to no avail, and gave up the chase at that time due to public safety concerns.
It’s then alleged that Roberts caused damage to the Terra Nova Golf Course and broke into an office in Terra Nova Park.
Roberts was arrested without incident in Port Blandford around 9:00 yesterday morning.
He is currently facing charges of break and enter and being unlawfully at large. Police expect to lay several other charges.
Roberts made his first court appearance yesterday.
