Easter Seals is appealing to the public for money after a flood earlier this month that caused significant damage to Easter Seals House on Mount Scio Road.
The flood, which was caused by a malfunction in the plumbing system, disrupted over 20 programs and services for persons with disabilities. The facility is closed and will likely remain so for the next two to three months.
Office staff are in temporary space on Kelsey Drive, the day camp has moved into Macdonald Drive Junior High and overnight camps are proceeding. The Career Services Horizons Program is continuing with support from Stella’s Circle.
Mark Bradbury, a spokesperson for Easter Seals, says the incident could not have come at a worse time. They are losing significant revenue as a result of disruptions in programs and services.
Bradbury told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly this morning that they have set $50,000 as the objective.
He’s asking corporations to register for their golf tournament on August 14. Families can register for the run/walk in Bowring Park on September 14.
