Hot and dry conditions have forced the City of Corner Brook to impose a ban on permitted burning for the time being.
The city issued the advisory this morning.
Barbecues and approved fire pits are allowed, but the city says the burning of any debris or yard waste is strictly prohibited until the ban is lifted.
The city is asking residents to keep a garden hose nearby, connected and ready for use in case of fire, and douse any fire pit fire with water when done.
The forest fire index is very high in many parts of the island.
