The Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility is closed until further notice following a workplace incident at the dump this morning.
One employee was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A workplace investigation is ongoing.
Members of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department also responded to the scene and gave the all-clear to other employees at the site.
The exact nature of the workplace incident is not known, however unconfirmed reports indicate it was chemical in nature.
