A Quebec woman is in hospital in Goose Bay following a frightening encounter with a black bear in Labrador.
The woman was one of a number of experienced paddlers on a canoe trip through southern Labrador.
The group encountered a black bear during a stop, but could not drive the animal away. The woman was reportedly bitten on the leg by the animal when she tripped while backing away.
She was airlifted from the remote area to hospital by Air Borealis, her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
