A 72-year-old Marystown man found himself in some trouble after allegedly pointing a firearm at two young bicycle riders.
Around 9:00 p.m. last night, Burin Peninsula RCMP responded to a report that a man—who was driving a black Ford Ranger—pointed what was believed to be a hand gun at two young people. They were riding their bicycles in the town at the time.
A licence plate number was provided to police, who then identified and tracked down the 72-year-old man.
RCMP searched his home, finding a number of unsecured firearms, including five rifles and two handgun-style airsoft pistols.
He was arrested and charged with pointing a firearm, using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence, and unsafe storage of firearms.
He was released on conditions and scheduled to appear in court in September.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Burin Peninsula RCMP at 709-279-3001 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
