Residents of the centre-city area of St. John’s are finding themselves high and dry this morning as crews work to repair broken water main.
The break occurred on Newtown Road near Empire Avenue, close to the Re/Max Centre.
Crews excavated the pipe and shut off the water to prevent more leakage, however water remains off in the area, and that will likely continue.
City Hall says repair work may last until 4:00 p.m..
Newtown is currently closed to through traffic between Empire and Hoyles Avenue.
